ABOUT ROBERT T. FOSTER

His designs can been seen throughout the Carolinas, including Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Lake James, and Columbia; just to name a few. He has also designed for farther markets including Illinois, Tennessee, and Texas. Rob’s home designs can been seen in prestigious communities such as Longview, Skyecroft, Highgate, Stonecroft, The Point, and The Sanctuary. He has also served on the Architectural Review Boards for several communities. Rob has also been a contributing writer in Builder/Architect Magazine and has judged numerous home design competitions.

Rob’s easygoing nature and building knowledge puts clients and builders as ease. “Designing a home to fit an individual’s lifestyle means a lot of listening. It is imperative that I hear what my clients say and what they don’t say,” explains Rob, “they come to me with their dreams. It is my job to turn those dreams into a reality and surpass their expectations. That is always my goal with every home I design.”

Surpassing expectations is Rob’s trademark. “Every home has an It factor.” he says. “It may be a sunken wine room, a raised study, a two-story atrium or a private garden off the master bath.” Rob’s It factors have earned numerous design awards in the past. He has designed the two Charlotte homes for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. “Designing for the show wasn’t at all about advertising or notoriety. That has never been my style. My reason for designing the two homes was to give the families something deserving that would benefit their lives.”

Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Rob’s passion and desire to designing homes began when he took a drafting class in high school. “I was always curious as to how structures were built – starting with my Lincoln Log set when I was little.” Rob continued to pursue his dreams in college by studying civil engineering and attaining a degree in architectural technology.

Rob and his wife currently live in Lancaster, South Carolina where they have become heavily involved in their community. Dawne, his wife of 30 years, is a recently retired elementary teacher. She spends her new found free tie on the pickleball courts and organizing their home. Rob also has taken up pickleball. In addition, Rob enjoys fishing and mountain bike riding whenever he gets the chance. Rob and Dawne are officially empty nesters now that their 2 children, Ashley and Jordan, have graduated college and have moved out of the house. Ashley has settled in Hendersonville, NC where she is the Executive Director at Tapestry in Fletcher, NC. Jordan resides in Columbia, SC. He is employed at TMC Transportation as a Carrier Procurement Representative. Rob loves spending time with his family, especially now. “Seeing our kids thrive as adults is very rewarding and fun! I cherish every moment we can spend together as a family!”
